From the Department of Agricultural Economics...

This week's International Student of the Week is Kalpana Khanal. She is in the Agricultural Economics Masters program. Kalpana is from Kathmandu, Nepal and she speaks three languages: Hindi, English and Nepali.

She is involved in many organizations on campus and keeps very busy helping others. She is the secretary for the Nepalese Student Association, an Ag Econ representative for GPSGA and a member of both Agricultural Economics GSA and the Association of University Women.

In her free time she enjoys traveling and appreciates learning and understanding other cultures. In addition, she also enjoys volunteering wherever she can to help whomever she can. When she has time, she likes to read novels on current issues.

Kalpana came to the United States to get her graduate degree. She believes there are more opportunities here and she can express herself freely. She chose Oklahoma State University because of the excellent agricultural program.

Her future plans include completing her doctorate degree here in the US and after completion move back to Nepal. She hopes to share her knowledge with the people of Nepal to benefit their future agriculture plans. She will be working for the social and economic sectors of Nepal.

Kalpana's advisor is Dr. Shida Henneberry.
